''Furniture cannot be considered finished until it been submitted to different finishing processes intended to insure a better durability and to improve its appearance. ''

Demonstration of finishes obtained with different stain pigments and dyes on a small pine cabinet. We use different pigment agents such as:  Pure asphaltum, Mahogany, Jude bitumen, walnut stainearth color pigments, white titanium, bone black, chrome oxyde , blue cobalt, special oxide and more.

Stains and pigments from earth colors are the most used for their richness and resistance to UV’s.  To the light, they are at their maximum advantage and do not harm the environment.

''  An unrivalled range of sustained shades and hues.''

As before, artisans have used what the land provided them for their colors and these are well appreciated today.

Moreover, they are not altered by ultraviolet rays. As in the past, craftsmen took advantage that the earth gave them to obtain the shades that we appreciate today.

To preserve our environment, we use natural and fully green finishes as the natural hemp oil at Homestead House Paint Co., Livos ecological finishing products as the  Kunos counter top. We also use traditional finishes such as: artisan wax, and orange wax shellac.

Stains and paints with natural pigments are the basis of an antique finish. The iron fitting of a piece also plays an important role. Using a wrought iron decorative hadware, it is possible to enhance the character of the furniture. It is common that milk paint is superimposed in layers to suggest different finishes that the furniture would have had.

To this, a crackling effect could have been caused by the variation of temperature  that the furniture would have suffered during his many seasons in Quebec.

We also sell finishing products: Homestead House Paint Co. ,and several wood finishing products .
